Specialities

I work with individuals and couples facing a wide range of difficulties. Sometimes there is a clear issue; sometimes there is only a sense that something is not quite right, or that life has become painful, confusing, or difficult to bear.

Below are some of the areas I most often help people explore.

Relationships

You may find yourself struggling in intimate relationships, friendships, or family life. Perhaps you feel caught between closeness and distance, or become stuck in patterns of conflict, dependence, or resentment. Therapy can help you understand these dynamics and begin to relate differently to yourself and to others.

Codependency

You may find yourself overly focused on another person’s needs and emotions, while losing touch with your own. This can leave you feeling responsible, drained, or unsure where your boundaries lie. Therapy can offer a space to explore these dynamics with care and begin to step out of them.

Life transitions and decisions

At times, life asks something new of us: a change of career, a relationship ending or beginning, becoming a parent, or the loss of a loved one. You may feel uncertain, divided, or frozen. Therapy can help you navigate these moments and find a way forward.

Childhood painful experiences

You may carry the effects of trauma in how you trust, love, or protect yourself. Therapy cannot rewrite the past, but it can help you make sense of its impact, loosen what has become rigid, and find a different relationship to what happened.

Shame and self-worth

You may struggle with a harsh inner voice or a sense of not being enough. Shame can inhibit relationships, sexuality, ambition, and even the way you inhabit your own body. Therapy can offer a place where these experiences can be approached with honesty and care.

Sex, sexuality, and gender

You may be exploring questions of sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity. I aim to offer a space where these questions can be explored openly and respectfully, without presumption or pathologising. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, and I work with people across a range of sexualities, gender identities, and relationship structures.

Problems with alcohol or substances

You may feel caught in a behavioural loop with alcohol or substances. Therapy can help you look more closely at what this use is doing for you, what pain or conflict may be bound up with it, and what might make change possible. I also support people who are following 12-step recovery programmes.

Work-related stress and burnout

You may feel trapped in roles that no longer fit, overwhelmed by stress, or unsure how much of yourself has been lost in the pursuit of success. Therapy can help you reflect on your relationship to work, achievement, and pressure, and consider what a more sustainable way of living might require.

Lack of meaning

Sometimes the difficulty is harder to name. You may feel lost, flat, or no longer fully engaged in life. These experiences can be painful and isolating. Therapy can provide a space to understand them more deeply and discover what they may be asking of you.
